My name is Joseph Giardina and this is my portfolio. I am a self-taught animation artist and cartoonist with extensive experience in the animation Industry. I specialize in all things pre-production, specifically; visual development, pre-production design, color-styling, background design, ink & paint, story development, and storyboarding.
I have worked for Cartoon Network Studios, Universal Cartoon Studios, Nickelodeon Movies, and Hasbro Studios. I am the co-creator/director/writer/art-director of the animated pilot The Awesome Chronicles of Manny and Khan which was produced by Cartoon Network Studios as part of the Cartoonstitute short film series. I’ve also colored the weekly comic-strips for nationally syndicated properties such as Peanuts, Marmaduke, Scary Gary, Rip Haywire and many more.
I have a strong passion for creating meaningful art using all sorts of media. In 2013, I went back to school after a decade of work experience in the animation industry, and in 2017 I earned a BFA in painting and a minor in printmaking from SUNY Buffalo State College. In 2018, I started teaching at at Villa Maria College as an adjunct professor of animation and figure drawing and I continue to teach there to this day.
